Goats?

My sister lives in Atlanta, Georgia, and we like to find time to spend together as often as possible. As we compared schedules, it became clear that the best weekend for me to come over is the same weekend she had other plans. She told me, over the phone, that she has another friend coming in from out of town, and they plan to meet a 3rd girlfriend at Ghosts on the Roof.

I echoed back, “Ghosts on the Roof?! What is that?” She responded with, “It’s ghosts on the roof.” that’s all. She invited me to go along, and I jumped at the chance since I love spooky stories and thrillers.

I made it to her house the evening before we were planned to go see the ghosts on the roof. She mentioned that her friend would be coming over at 10:00 in the morning and we can leave to see the GOATS on the roof. Again, I echoed back, “Goats?” She responded, “Goats.” Again, I echoed back, “Goats?” She responded, “Goats.” Oh, was I surprised! Now that I could read her lips I saw that she was saying “goats” all along.

Anyway, we had a terrific time at “Goats on the Roof” in Tiger, GA. If you are looking for an unusual place to go, why not take a trip through the beautiful North Georgia foot hills and go feed the goats. There are “Goats on the Roof” sites in other areas. Please refer to the link below for other locations.

I suppose I should schedule a hearing test now.

The Strangest Tourist Destination

The next day we arrive at "Goats on the Roof", and proceeded to have a fabulous day! The old fashioned ice cream shop sold cold, refreshing ice cream to the visitors. The deli served a variety of sandwiches and other treats. There were choices of potato chips or fresh fruit with each sandwich order. The building had a comfortable, childlike feeling, and we spent a whole lot of time in there.

The store had the most adorable decorations. The prices were reasonable for a tourist stop, and there was a variety of items to browse through. The staff members in both buildings were incredibly friendly and helpful. The store alone was worth the trip given its plethora of southern history and folk lore.

The attraction had stationary bicycles that would turn a wheel pulling a wire up and down. We could purchase goat food to place in a small tin bucket, attach it to the wire, and send it up to the goats by peddling one of those bicycles. For the new arrivals, ice cream cones filled with goat pellets are available for purchase. The new arrivals are on the side of the store in their own pen with their mother. They are absolutely adorable!

I recommend this tourist attraction to everyone. It is family friendly, and completely weird. It never ceases to amaze me how creative some people can be.
